Roommates Online Network provides an online platform that allows users to post listings for rooms available for rent, search for potential roommates, and communicate through on-site messaging tools. We are a listing and messaging platform only. We do not participate in, broker, or mediate any roommate arrangements, lease agreements, or financial transactions between users.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age to use this website. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.

3. User Accounts

  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information when creating your account and in any listing you publish.
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account at our sole discretion, with or without notice, for any reason.

4. User Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use the platform for any unlawful purpose, including housing discrimination prohibited under the Fair Housing Act or any applicable state or local law.

  • Attempt to probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the website or circumvent any security measures.
  • Scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to collect data from the website without our prior written consent.

5. Fair Housing Compliance

All listings and communications on this platform must comply with the Fair Housing Act (42 U.S.C. § 3601 et seq.) and all applicable state and local fair housing laws. It is illegal to discriminate in the sale, rental, or financing of housing based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, familial status, or disability. Users engaging in discriminatory practices will be reported to the appropriate authorities, and their accounts will be terminated immediately.

6. Content Ownership & License

  • You retain ownership of content you post on the platform (“User Content”).
  • By posting User Content, you grant the Company a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to display, distribute, reproduce, and use that content in connection with operating the platform.
  • We may remove any User Content at our sole discretion, without notice, for any reason.

7. No Verification or Endorsement

WE DO NOT VERIFY, SCREEN, VET, OR ENDORSE ANY USERS, LISTINGS, OR COMMUNICATIONS ON THIS PLATFORM. We make no representations or warranties regarding the accuracy, reliability, completeness, or truthfulness of any user profile, listing, or message. Any reliance you place on information provided by other users is strictly at your own risk.

8. Safety Disclaimer

Meeting strangers and entering into shared living arrangements carries inherent risks. We strongly advise you to:

  • Always meet potential roommates in a public place first.
  • Inform a trusted friend or family member of your plans and whereabouts.
  • Independently verify information provided by other users (identity, employment, references, etc.).
  • Conduct your own background checks where legally permissible.
  • Never send money or provide financial information to someone you have not met in person.
  • Trust your instincts — if something doesn’t feel right, walk away.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, ROOMMATES ONLINE NETWORK, LLC, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, AND AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO:

  • Any conduct, acts, or omissions of any third party or other user of the platform, including but not limited to fraud, misrepresentation, harassment, theft, assault, property damage, or any other harm.

IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100) OR (B) THE AMOUNT YOU HAVE PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE WEBSITE AND ALL SERVICES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
